Castle Grove was built in 1695 by the Grove family, who came
here in 1656; However, the original was burnt during the siege
of Londonderry in 1690. It was here also that the famous Daniel
O'Connell was introduced to the powers that be; that led to him
being an elected MP at the time. Castle Grove also had a big influence
in the life of General Richard Montgomery who's fame still lives
on - the American War of Independence. During famine times the
Groves both fed and educated all tenant families. We all enjoy
the welcoming atmosphere that lives on from such generosity and
is complimented by the "Cead Mile Failte" that awaits
you to make your stay a memorable one.
