The Burren is one of Ireland's surprises for the discerning traveller.
A special area of limestone mountain scenery, with a distinctive
beauty and holding a wealth of treasure for the botanist and explorer
of historic ruins. In the midst of this wilderness lies Gregans
Castle Hotel, at the foot of the Corkscrew Hill, with breathtaking
views over The Burren and Galway Bay. Peter, Moira and Simon Haden
own and manage this oasis, where hospitality, good food, comfort
and peace and quiet are the themes. Lahinch and Doonbeg Golf Clubs
and The Cliffs of Moher are nearby.

The Corkscrew Bar: The turf
fire is always glowing in the informal and relaxing Corkscrew
Bar. Interesting food is served here at lunchtime. Later in the
day afternoon tea can be enjoyed after a days sightseeing or hiking
on The Burren. Enjoy an apéritif or a pint of Guinness
here before dinner while browsing through the evening's dinner
menu. |
| |
| The Dining Room: The atmosphere is not overly
formal in the warmly decorated Dining Room which has a commanding
view of the Ballyvaughan valley and Galway Bay. From our extensive
dinner menu, there is a good choice of fresh local foods, carefully
prepared by Chef Regis Herviaux and his team with the tastes of
our guests in mind. Organic Burren Lamb and Beef are specialties,
as is locally caught fish and shellfish from the Atlantic Ocean.

| Our ever expanding and extensive wine list features wines from
every continent and includes a large selection of organic and bio-dynamic
wines. On some evenings our pianist will entertain you during dinner.
The dress code is smart casual. Tables are automatically reserved
for all our guests (we will confirm with you on check-in). The Dining
Room is open for dinner from 7.00pm to 8.30pm. Breakfast is served
from 8.00am to 10.00am or earlier by arrangement. |
| There are four categories of rooms from our Classic and Superior
rooms to our Junior and Premier Suites. Each Bedroom and Suite is
individually and exquisitely decorated in a relaxing country house
style. Our rooms have nice views of the surrounding landscape. Some
have their own private garden area. |
| |
Classic Rooms
These cosy and comfortable rooms are decorated in a traditional
country house manner. Some have twin beds while others have a queen
bed. |
| |
Superior Rooms
These are more generous in size than our classic rooms and each
have a well defined seating area. Bathrooms are more lavishly appointed.
Some Superior rooms have king sized beds while others have twin
beds. |
| |
Junior Suites
These rooms are the obvious next step up from the Superior rooms
with greater size and appointment being the obvious difference.
They are furnished to the same high standards. |
| |
Premier Suites
These are our largest and most luxurious suites, each with their
own private sitting room. The Galway Bay Suite has a magnificent
view of the Burren mountains and looks across Galway Bay. The O'Loughlen
Suite has a door out into our beautiful gardens. The Martyn Suite
with it's four poster bed and carved cut stone fireplace is in the
most historic part of the building in what was originally Frank
Martyn's kitchen. It also has it's own private garden. |
