| The great traditions of the Irish country house have been masterfully
preserved at Marlfield House, an elegant Regency style mansion 55
miles south of Dublin and just minutes from the white sandy beaches
of the east coast. Mary and Ray Bowe bought the house from the Earls
of Courtown in 1977. Together they supervised every detail of its
restoration and over the years have filled the graciously proportioned
rooms with antiques, period furniture, valuable works of art and
sumptuous fabrics. Filled with fresh flowers from the garden and
blazing fires the house is the essence of a truly beautiful and
particularly romantic Irish Country house. Set on 35 acres of grounds
and woodlands Marlfield is the ideal setting for touring the beauty
spots of the south east including Wicklow, Kilkenny and Waterford. |
| |
| Marlfield also provides the ideal setting for small boardroom
and think tank style meetings. The magnificent Print suite opens
onto and overlooks the gardens and will seat 20 around its fine
antique table. In addition the Drawing Room, Grand Hall and Library
each provide endless possibilities as break out rooms for different
uses. Small meetings who choose to come to Marlfield often tend
to have the house to themselves during the day providing enormous
privacy and the ideal environment for working in. Following and
arduous day of brain storming our excellent cuisine and fine wine
cellar can be enjoyed in the elegant but relaxing atmosphere of
our long established conservatory restaurant. Hence even the requirements
of today's most industrious and discerning of groups are met at
Marlfield.

| |
| The reputation of Marlfield was built on its food much of which
is grown in the garden. Fresh herbs, vegetables and fruit grow abundantly
and are gathered daily. Wild salmon, Spring lamb, Bannow Bay oysters,
Wexford mussels and beef all feature very strongly on the menu. The
cuisine is best described as classical with French and Mediterranean
influence. Dining in our flower filled Turner style conservatory
overlooking the garden with its frescoed walls and sparking silver
is a truly memorable experience. It is hardly surprising that Marlfield's
restaurant has gained so many accolades over the last twenty years |
| |
| Because Marlfield was built in the 1830’s as a private home
no two of the bedrooms are the same in any way. However we have
managed to place them into three categories as follows: |
| |
| Our State Bedrooms
There are six magnificent state bedrooms and each one
is decorated in a different period style. All have period marble
fireplaces and elegant marble bathrooms, some with freestanding
bath. Some have views over the lake and wildfowl reserve while
others have four poster beds and separate dressing rooms. Very
carefully chosen antiques, paintings and fabrics fill each of
these sumptuous rooms, the piece de resistance. |
| |
| Our Standard De Luxe Bedrooms
Each of the eight standard de luxe bedrooms are completely
different. All are decorated with rich fabrics, antiques, paintings
and rugs and some have four poster beds. In each room you will
also find thick robes and towels, lacy white bed linen, fresh
fruit and bottled water, trouser presses, irons and ironing boards,
hairdryers, luxurious Molton Brown toiletries, direct dial telephones,
cd players, satellite televisions and lots of books. Some have
beautiful views over the gardens and the grounds. |
| |
| Our Standard Bedrooms and our Single Bedrooms
There are four standard double rooms and two standard
single rooms. While each contains all of the luxuries of our standard
de luxe rooms including king size beds in the doubles and small
doubles in the singles, these very charming rooms are standard
in size. |
