The Galway Races is an Irish horse-racing festival that starts on the last Monday of July every year. Held at Ballybrit Racecourse in Galway, Ireland over seven days, it is the longest of all the race meets that occur in Ireland.
There are 51 races throughout the Galway Festival with the total prize money on offer this year in excess of €2 million for the first time. The Blue Riband race is the famous Galway Plate, a race so central to the history of Galway races. It takes place on Wednesday, the third day of the meeting and it will be the race that attracts by far the most media attention and certainly much of the Galway Festival betting.
The busiest days of the festival are Wednesday, when the Galway Plate is held, and Thursday, when the Galway Hurdle and Ladies' Day take place.
Galway Festival Ladies Day is on the fourth day of the festival and it is one of the most colourful. The big race of the day is the Galway Handicap Hurdle, another race that attracts significant betting interests. Punters should take a look at our Galway Festival Free Bet Offers before taking the plunge on the race.
