Listowel Writers’ Week is an international acclaimed 5-day literary festival devoted to bringing together writers and audiences at unique and innovative events in the historic and intimate surroundings of Listowel, County Kerry. At the core of this yearly celebration is a commitment to promoting and developing literary talent, reinforced by an organisation that values inclusivity, civic responsibility and partnership.
This model is attained through yearly writing competitions, writing workshops, book launches, readings, lectures and seminars. Listowel Writers' Festival has a long history of showcasing the very best of contemporary writing from Ireland and across the world as well as a history of producing, presenting innovative literature events from emerging and established writers. Furthermore, Writers’ Week affords inspiring opportunities for children and young people to participate in creative writing and reading activities.
There will be many literary workshops in place for the festival, taking place over three mornings and covering all genres of writing from Novel, Poetry, writing for Theatre and Screen, Songwriting, Journalism, Short Fiction, Travel and Creative Writing. The Workshop Directors are the ‘best in class’ in their field of writing and feature prominent writers from Ireland and beyond.
