Nant Gwrtheyrn or “the Nant” as it is often called, now home to the National Welsh Language and Heritage Centre. It is a special place for Welsh people and it is located in a former quarrying village on the northern coast of the Llŷn Peninsula in north Wales. There has been a massive renovation of this site in recent years with the construction of a new access road, conference centre, 4 and 5* accommodation to make this as one of the unique attractions in Wales. It attracts in the region of 30,000 visitors a year. This centre specialises in teaching the Welsh language to adults and visitors can enjoy the heritage centre which houses displays about the Welsh language and culture. In this remote part of Wales, there is the opportunity to learn about the unique wildlife that inhabits the area and the history of the village. There is also beautiful period house set in the Victorian quarry. Highlights of the visit include: Quarryman’s Cottage, Tu Hwnt, Tre’r Ceiri Hillfort and Meinir’s Tree.
