Stirling Castle

Stirling Castle is located on Castle Hill, Stirling in Scotland and is regarded as one of the largest and most significant castles in Scotland. The majority of the main buildings of the castle are from the 15th and 16th centuries and the buildings to the facing the town go back to as early as the 18th century. Before uniting with England, the castle was one of the most utilised castles as a palace and also as a fortress. Eight sieges or more took place at the castle and many of these were during the time of the Wars of Scottish Independence. Today the castle is managed by Historic Environment Scotland as a visitor attraction. Highlights of the tour include: The Great Hall which is one of the most magnificent and largest banqueting halls in Scotland, The Royal Palace of James the V, The Castle Exhibition which tells the story of the castle from its early stage right up to the present day and The Queen Anne Gardens.
