The Merry Ploughboy Pub in South Dublin is a traditional Irish pub that offers frequent traditional music sessions and shows. The pub is run by local musicians, The Merry Ploughboys. The pub is said to have opened in the 1800’s first as a ‘shebeen’ but later became a ‘bone fide’ public house, which meant that it was allowed to remain open after normal pub hours in order to serve travelers that were more than 3 miles from home. The Merry Ploughboys (the owners of the pub) are proud to host the longest running show in Ireland hosted by the same musicians and dancers over an impressive 29 years.
